I've finally taken the plunge. I've gone over to the dark side.  I have bought a smartphone.

No, not an iPhone. Being someone who's working on a novel already puts you in perilously close proximity to the turtle-neck-wearing latte brigade that seem to hang around starbucks like a goateed plague. No, I've bought myself an android phone in order to reaffirm my geek roots.

I finally weakened when my MP3 player and phone broke at the same time. My camera had been dead for months, so I reasoned that I could either A: Spend hundreds of pounds replacing all three pieces of kit or B: by a smartphone, which would do all their jobs. With the money I saved, I would buy a fat case for that smart phone. And insurance. And more insurance, in case the first insurance went wrong.
